IT'S ALL ABOUT PARTIES | The Baptism of 2 Princesses

Já estava há algum tempo a prometer-vos apresentar o meu tema favorito de todos os tempos. E como já não aguento mais entrar no blog e ver um tema natalício, com este sol lá fora e a Primavera que finalmente chegou, decidi por mãos à obra, roubar um tempinho ao meu curso on-line e encher esta página com cores bem Primaveris!

Foi em Agosto que baptizamos a Ritinha e a Sofia (a minha filha e a minha sobrinha/afilhada).

Pensei com tempo no tema para estas 2 lindas meninas, tão pequeninas e fofas e o tom rosa veio-me logo à cabeça. 

Queríamos algo simples e elegante. Decidi então usar vários padrões à volta da mesma cor... e o resultado foi este:

It's been a while that I wanted to show you my all times favorite theme. And because I couldn't stand any longer to open my Blog page and see the same Christmas theme every time, I decided it was time to steel some hours from my on-line course and fill my pages with Spring, light, cheerful colors!

It was in August that we Baptized Rita (my daughter) and Sofia (my niece and goddaughter).  

I planned the theme way ahead. And for my 2 most beautiful and cute little girls, soft pink came immediately to my mind.

We wanted something simple and elegant. So I decided to mix several patterns around the same color... and this was the result:

Algumas decisões, como o menu, o bolo, as flores, foram bem fáceis. Sabia o que queria, sabia a quem recorrer e acima de tudo, tinha a certeza de que não me iriam deixar ficar mal, porque confio no seu trabalho. Falo da Luisa Ginoullhiac, que nos serviu o jantar, e da Sofia Dias da Cakesaway, que fez o bolo de baptizado.

Some decisions, like the catering and the cake, were easy to take. I new what I wanted,  where to get it, or meaning, who to get it from and most of all I new they would do a good job. I am speaking about Luisa Ginoullhiac, that served the dinner and Sofia Dias from Cakesaway, that made the Baptism Cake. 

O bolo ficou lindo e ganhou ainda mais destaque em cima deste "cakestand" em milk glass, de tom rosa claro! Adorava que fosse meu, mas na verdade é da  minha amiga Susana Oliveira, da Citrus and Orange, que gentilmente mo cedeu. Aliás, sabiam que podem comprar ou mesmo alugar um destes pratos maravilhosos, nas cores mais fantásticas?! Pois é! Agora a Susana vende e aluga estas e outras peças lindíssimas de decoração e festas. Dêem uma olhada na sua Fanpage (aqui). Quem não conhece, vai concerteza ficar fã!

Os pompons, fizemos uns dias antes, até porque como são muito frágeis, facilmente se amarrotam. Então, pendurámo-los todos num fio que prendemos de uma ponta a outra da sala. Depois, foi só pendurar em locais de destaque, no jardim. Acho que ficaram um mimo! E vocês, gostam?

The cake was beautiful and gained even more prominence on top of that light pink milk glass cakestand! I wish it was mine, but it actually belongs to my friend Susana Oliveira, from Citrus and Orange, who kindly borrow it to me. Moreover, did you know that you can now buy or even rent one of these wonderful beauties in the most fantastic colors?! Yeah! Now Susana sells and rents these and other gorgeous pieces for parties and decoration. Take a look at her Fanpage (here). Who does not know her, will surely become a fan!

The pom-poms we did it just a couple of days before, because they are very fragile, they easily crumple. So we hang them all to a wire that we set from one end to the other of the living room. Then we just had to hang them in a prominent place in the garden. I think they looked gorgeous! Don't you think so? 

Para oferecer aos convidados, optámos por uma barra de chocolate para os adultos e um saco de algodão doce para as crianças.

Colocámos tudo numa mesa à entrada do jardim. Na minha opinião, ficou LINDO, mas confesso que fiquei um pouco preocupada que o calor fosse "arruinar" os meus doces!

To offer guests we opted for a chocolate bar for the adults and a bag of cotton candy for the kids.
We placed everything in a table at the entrance of the garden. In my opinion, it was GORGEOUS, but I confess I was a little worried that the heat was "ruining" my sweets!

Mas não foram só estes os mimos para os convidados. Tivemos ainda chocolatinhos brancos em formato de coração, para servir com o café, uns suspiros caseiros e muito leves, para depois do jantar e caixinhas de pipocas para as crianças, na mesa dos doces!

Devo dizer que os suspiros estavam deliciosos e foram completamente devorados. E o melhor é que me deu um prazer enorme fazê-los!


But these were not the only treats for guests. We also had white chocolates in the shape of heart, to serve with coffee, some homemade and very lightweight meringues to serve after dinner and boxes of popcorn for the kids on the dessert table!

I must say that the meringues were delicious and were completely gobbled. And the best part is that it gave me great pleasure to bake them!

Os doces da Luisa Ginoulhiac estavam divinais! Eu especialmente gostei do trio de mousses - morango, limão e côco. Nunca tinha provado mousse de côco antes e gostei bastante! É um sabor original e muito fresquinho, a combinar com o Verão. Mas acho que o ex-libris foi o bolo de nozes com ovos moles. Esse desapareceu num piscar de olhos!!!

Um dia destes falo-vos um pouco do novo projecto da Luisa, que é fantástico e surpreendente!

The sweets from Luisa Ginoulhiac were heavenly! I especially liked the trio of mousses - strawberry, lemon and coconut. Had never tasted coconut mousse before and really liked it! It is a very unique flavor and really fresh to match with the summer. But I think the ex-libris was the pecan pie with soft eggs. This disappeared in a flash!!

One of these days I will tell you a little bit about Luisa's new project! You're gonna love it!

Para as mousses, decorei as mini colheres com mini lacinhos, também num trio de cores em degradé. 
For the mousses I decorated the spoons with mini bows also in a trio of colors. 

Já era tarde quando abrimos o bolo.  E com tantos convidados, optámos por fazer a cerimónia no jardim e improvisar umas velas e candeeiros adicionais. Acabou por ficar um ambiente lindíssimo!

A noite acabou com pais e padrinhos em conversa no jardim até altas horas. Por fim, caiu a chuva e lá nos fomos deitar. Agosto tem destas coisas!!!

The night ended with parents and godparents in long talks until late hours, outside in the garden.  Eventually, the rain fell and so we went to bed. August has these things!!!

Hello December!

Ele está aí. Veio num piscar de olhos, tanta pressa que tinha de chegar...
Estou a falar do mês de Dezembro, é claro! Daquele mês de feriados (não que este ano sejam nos melhores dias da semana), festas e jantares, compras sem fim, corridas às lojas e um verdadeiro rodopio. Um dos melhores meses do ano, mas um dos mais complicados para a nossa agenda.

Impressionante como o tempo passa rápido! Ainda há pouco era Verão... e já estamos praticamente no Natal!!!

E por falar em Natal, o meu filho mais velho ultimamente passa os dias a perguntar-me se falta muito tempo para chegar o dia de Natal e quantos dias faltam.  Tudo isto porque já tem na sua cabecinha as 1001 prendas que quer receber, não só do Pai Natal, mas do resto da família. 

Então, pusemos mãos à obra, e juntos criámos esta Carta para enviar ao Pai Natal, que ele e a irmã já preencheram. Nem imaginam a alegria dos dois, cada um com a sua carta! 
São estes momentos que valem a pena!

E como o Natal é tempo de partilha, queremos partilhá-la com vocês.

Here it is. It came in a blink, such a hurry it had to arrive ...

I am talking about December, of course! Of that month of holidays (only this year they came on a Saturday), dinners and parties, endless shopping, rushing to stores and a real twirl in our lives. One of the best months of the year, but one of the most tricky to our agenda.

It's amazing how time goes fast! Just a while ago it was Summer .. and now we are practically at Christmas!!

And speaking of Christmas, my oldest son spends his days lately, asking me how many days there are until Christmas Eve and if that takes too long. All this because he already has in his little head the 1001 gifts he wants to get, not only from Santa but from the rest of the family too.

So we decided to put together this Letter for Santa. He and the little sister already wrote each own and let me tell you... they are so happy and excited with their letter! 
It is worth a thousand words!!!

And because this is a Season for sharing, we would like to share this letter with you and your kids.

BACK TO SCHOOL [Part I]

REGRESSO ÀS AULAS [Parte 1]

As aulas já começaram e as primeiras semanas foram uma verdadeira correria, entre reuniões da escola, organizar e comprar todo o material, roupas e acessórios necessários e procurar as actividades para o Miguel fazer. Sim, porque a Ritinha ainda é muito bébé para actividades... lá chegará o seu tempo!

Passar da vida de férias, sem despertador para acordar nem correrias de manhã, para a rotina do dia-a-dia tal frenesim que nos impede o pensamento lúcido e nos atira para um atropelar de tarefas sem fim... é um processo que leva o seu tempo a recuperar.

Por isso, tenho feito listas (já vos tinha dito que sou uma "To Doer"?) e decidi organizar-me para facilitar as saídas pela manhã sem esquecer S-E-M-P-R-E alguma coisa.

Ora vejamos, quais são algumas das tarefas e suas soluções: 

Lancheira / roupas / dia de ginástica - preparar tudo no dia anterior

Não há nada mais prático do que preparar mochilas, roupas e até lancheiras (o que não tiver que estar no frigorífico) na noite anterior. Acelera os procedimentos pela manhã e reduz-nos os stress.

Dica: para colocar os iogurtes nas lancheiras, uso um refrigerador de lata (tem um tamanho menor que o das garrafas de vinho e a medida certa para as pequenas lancheiras dos nossos filhos).
Sim, já tentei usar aquelas máscaras para os olhos, mas concluí que aquecem muito rapidamente, pelo que não aconselho!

Compras da semana

Para facilitar a organização das compras e das listas de compras, adotei dois sistemas que são MEGA eficazes:
Tenho sempre, na mala do carro, um saco para as compras e um para congelados (para além de que levo sempre comigo na carteira um saco desdobrável, que adoro, da ENVIROSAX).

Coloquei à entrada da cozinha um quadro magnético com o "calendário" da escola e actividades (não, a minha porta do frigorífico não dá porque é daqueles incorporados na mobília da cozinha) e preguei na parede um vaso do Ikea com: caneta de feltro para escrever no quadro, um apagador, um bloco e caneta bic, post it's.

Agora, já não me estou sempre a esquecer de ingredientes ou outras coisas, porque logo que dou pela falta, vou imediatamente ao caderninho escrever, porque está "à mão de semear" :-)

Lista do Menu semanal para o jantar

Organizar no inicio da semana o menu do jantar para toda a semana (2ª a 6ª feira) ajuda imenso não só nas compras do supermercado (reduzindo o número de idas) como também na diminuição do nosso stress e desânimo. Quem nunca pensou que não lhe apetece cozinhar e está farto de fazer sempre os mesmos pratos?

Conto-vos um segredo: Adoro ver "30 minutos com Jamie Oliver" e inspiro-me imenso com as suas deliciosas e tentadoras receitas. E vocês?

Estas são as minhas dicas, mas outras seriam apreciadas. E vocês, que "truques" utilizam para facilitar o vosso dia-a-dia? Partilhem! Quem sabe poderão estar a ajudar alguém a melhorar a sua qualidade de vida!

School has begun and the first couple of weeks were a complete rush among school meetings, organize and buy all the stuff, clothes and accessories necessary for this season and seek for the activities for Miguel to take. Yes, because Rita is still a baby ...  her time will come!

Passing from the holiday life, no alarm clocks waking us up in the morning or running around like crazy, to the daily routine such a frenzy that prevents us from clear thinking and throws us to an endless run down tasks... is a process that takes time to adapt.

So I made ​​a bunch of lists (have I told you that I am a "To Doer"?) and decided to organize myself to ease up my mornings without ALWAYS forgetting something.

So let's see, what are some of the tasks and their solutions:

Lunch / clothes / gym day - prepare everything the day before.

There is nothing more convenient than preparing backpacks, clothes and even lunchboxes (what doesn't need to be refrigerated) the night before. It speeds up all procedures in the morning and reduces stress.

My tip: I place yogurts in the lunchboxes with a cooler tin (which is smaller than the ones for bottles of wine and have just the right size to fit in the small lunchboxes of our children). And yes, I've tried to use those eye masks, but came to the conclusion that they heat very quickly, so I don't advise those!

Weekly Grocery shopping

To ease the organization of purchases and shopping lists, I adopted two systems that are MEGA effective to me.
Nº 1 -  I have always, in the trunk of my car, a shopping bag and a frozen bag and I carry with me a bag folding wallet, which I love, from ENVIROSAX.

Nº2 - At the entrance of our kitchen we installed a magnetic board with a time schedule for my son's  school and  activities and also attached to the wall a cute vase from Ikea that I equipped with a felt pen, a note pad and some pens and we also use it to keep vitamins, urgent mail, etc  

Weekly Dinner Menu

Organizing the dinner menu at the beginning of the week for the entire week (Monday to Friday) not only helps by reducing the number of visits to the supermarket but it also decreases our stress and discouragement. Who never wished not needing to cook everyday and is tired of always doing the same dishes?
 
Let me tell you a secret: I love watching "30 minutes with Jamie Oliver" has I get a lot of inspiration from his delicious and tempting recipes. What about you?

COMING BACK

ESTOU DE REGRESSO...

Queridas leitoras e leitores,
Aqui estou eu de novo, cheia de saudades de vos escrever e contar as minhas histórias e sonhos...

Depois de um longo período ausente, quero regressar, talvez não com o mesmo ritmo, porque o tempo não o permite, mas com o mesmo empenho e a mesma paixão.

Sabem? Quando se começa um blog, fica-se como que "viciado" primeiro, o vício passa a carinho e paixão pelo nosso "pequeno grande projecto" o que leva a um verdadeiro sentimento de responsabilidade para com os nossos leitores e então "a coisa fica séria"!

Pois foi o que senti, quando o meu pequenino Blog fez 1 ano e me comprometi com vocês a trazer conteúdo útil e interessante. Senti que, a partir daquele momento, teria que ser a sério.
Mas nem tudo acontece como queremos, e o tempo não tem 36 nem 48 horas. 

Mas o que interessa, é que estive ocupada e tenho muitas coisas para vos mostrar, ideias e projectos...
a começar pela minha página do Facebook, que nasceu precisamente com o 1º aniversário do Blog.

Espero que permaneçam por aqui, que participem, comentem e partilhem, pois é para isso que aqui estou!

PICNIC IDEAS {Part 1}

Parece que o Verão finalmente chegou! E com ele, uma panóplia de programas e lugares para fazer e visitar e mil desculpas para sair de casa.

E nada melhor do que um Piquenique para poder aproveitar todo o dia (sem lixeiras em casa nem desarrumações)!

It seems that summer has finally arrived! And with it a range of programs to do and places to visit and a thousand excuses to leave the house.

And nothing better than a picnic in order to enjoy the all day out (no messy kitchens at home)!

Mas os piqueniques podem ser um desastre total se não forem bem programados. A pensar nisso, e porque como já vos mencionei anteriormente, sou uma fã de listas "TO DO", aqui seguem as minhas dicas e sugestões:

> Escolha um local apropriado - parque, praia ou campo, é importante que seja uma zona limpa, com alguma sombra e se tiver apoios tipo mesa em pedra, ainda melhor!

> Prepare algumas coisas de véspera, para ser mais fácil a saída e não se esquecer de nada - ponha as bebidas que quer geladas no frigorifico, coloque placas de gelo no congelador, monte o cesto com as louças, talheres, copos e guardanapos (sejam descartáveis ou não) e uma manta ou toalha para servir de mesa. Assim, no dia seguinte só tem que tratar das comidas, colocar tudo no cesto e geleira e sair!

But picnics can be a total disaster if not properly planned. Thinking about it and because, as I mention before, I'm a fan of "TO DO" lists, here are some tips and suggestions:

> Choose an appropriate location - park, beach or countryside, it is important to be a clean area with some shadows and if it has some type of backup like a stone or wooden table, it's even better!

> Prepare a few things the day before to be it easier to exit and so you don't forget anything - you want to put the drinks in the refrigerator, ice coolers in the freezer, prepare the picnic basket with crockery, cutlery, cups and napkins (whether disposable or not) and a blanket or towel to serve as a table. So the next day you just have to deal with the food, put everything in the basket and glacier and leave!

> Um saca-rolhas ou um canivete suiço são peças indispensáveis. Vale a pena ter um a mão.

> Umas toalhitas húmidas e um gel de alcóol podem ser muito úteis. Eu gosto de levar comigo umas toalhas pequenas para criança que comprei no IKEA  (veja aqui) e que uso para limpar melhor a minha filha. Podem ser usadas secas ou podemos deitar-lhes um pouco de água e limpam bem melhor que qualquer toalhete.

> Leve protector solar, chapéu ou boné e óculos de sol. A protecção contra os raios solares é muito importante, quer das rianças quer dos adultos. Um guarda-sol também pode fazer falta, até porque pode acontecer o lugar que escolheu, cheio de sombra, para o seu piquenique, ficar com sol passadas algumas horas...

> A corkscrew or a Swiss Army knife are indispensable. Is it worth having one at hand.

> A few wet wipes and alcohol gel can be very helpful. I like to carry with me some small towels for children that I bought at IKEA (see here) that I use to clean my daughter better. Can be used dry or you can throw them some water and it cleans even better than any wipes.

> Bring sunscreen, hat or cap and sunglasses. The protection against solar radiation is very important, either of the adult or the children. A beach umbrella can also be a good idea, because it might happen that the place you chose, plenty of shade for your picnic, be with the sun after a few hours ...

> Nunca se sabe que animais nos podem vir incomodar no nosso divertido piquenique. Leve um repelente de mosquitos para se proteger caso tenham uma invasão e umas velas de citronella para afastar os insectos da comida.

  

> Uma tenda para as crianças brincarem e depois dormirem, pode ser muito prático! Ainda por cima porque agora há imensas opções, faceis de transportar e de montar.

> You never know what animals might come bother you in your fun picnic. Take a mosquito repellent to protect yourself and the children in case there's an invasion and citronella candles to keep insects away from food.

> A tent for children to play and then sleep, can be very handy! On top of that there are plenty of options, easy to carry and assemble.

> E finalmente, porque um piquenique deve servir também para nós aproveitarmos para descansar, leve um bom livro e um bloco de folhas e uns lápis para as crianças se entreterem a desenhar. E quando eles se fartarem disso,  uma bola ou um papagaio são ambos bons entretenimentos para elas correrem e brincarem!

A LITTLE BEE TOLD ME | A British Wedding

Em homenagem a uma amiga recente, que vai casar em breve (Rita, esta é para ti!), venho apresentar-vos o Bridal Shower mais giro que já vi até hoje: "British Invasion" Bridal Brunch, que descobri no Blog Hostess with the Mostess, aqui.

Esta festa líndissima foi elaborada pela Tanya (desculpem o Blog dela está offline) e pela Stefanie do Brooklyn Limestone, para um casal que adora Londres e teve lugar não em Inglaterra, como poderão ter pensado, mas bem no centro histórico de Brooklyn, em Nova Iorque.

In honor of a new friend who is getting married soon (Rita, this one is for you!), I hereby present you the cutest Bridal Shower I have ever seen so far: "British Invasion" Bridal Brunch, that I discovered over at the Blog Hostess with the Mostess, here.

This gorgeous celebration was prepared by Tanya (I'm sorry, her blog is offline now) and Stefanie from Brooklyn Limestone, for a couple who loves London and took place not in England, as you may have thought, but right in the historic center of Brooklyn, New York.

As cores da bandeira de inglaterra, bem como o padrão da mesma, predominam na decoração: nas bolachinhas, nos cake pops, nos convites e menus e em todos os demais pormenores.

Adorei os bonequinhos-noivos, em madeira, vestidos a rigor! Está genial!

The colors and pattern of the English flag predominate in the decor: the cookies, the cake pops, invitations and menus and in all other details.
I just loved the wooden grooms all dressed up in wedding clothes! Simply brilliant!

Até a passadeira da mesa de jantar é personalizada ao tema da festa, colmatada com um coração a simbolizar o amor!

Even the table runner is customized to the theme of the party, bridged with a heart to symbolize love!

As flores, lindíssimas, dispostas em caixas de chá, bules e chávenas estão verdadeiramente de encantar. Uma ideia giríssima para utilizarmos num chá em casa, com as amigas!

The beautiful flowers, arranged in boxes of tea, teapots and cups are truly enchanting. What a great idea for us to use in a tea party with some friends!

Adorei a simplicidade do bolo. Com aquela flor lindíssima em pasta de açucar, faz-me lembrar um chapéu  real! Aqui se aplica bem o ditado "Menos é mais".

I loved the simplicity of the cake. With that beautiful flower made of sugar paste, it reminds me a royal hat! The old saying applies here perfectly: "Less is more".

Esta combinação de cores é sem dúvida uma das minhas favoritas! Azul claro, suave e delicado, com o vermelho vivo e forte.

This color combination is undoubtedly one of my favorites! Light blue, soft and delicate, with red which is bright and strong.

Para colmatar tudo isto, um ramo de flores enfiadas numas galochas brancas. Que ideia fantástica!!!

To cope with this, a bouquet of flowers tucked into white rubber boots. What a fantastic idea!

Uma festa muito "British", elegante, diferente e charmosa! Fiquei absolutamente rendida!!! E vocês?

O S. João está à porta. Já cheira a sardinha e a manjerico pelas ruas, as montras exibem-se cheias de cor, balões e grinaldas e os martelos saem das caixas para voltarem a ser usados.

E foi a pensar nas cores do nosso martelo gigante, que tirei da arrecadação estes dias, e num lindo papel que comprei recentemente para um pequeno trabalho, que preparei umas gracinhas para o S. João.

S. John's festivities are just a couple of days away. It already smells like sardines and bush basil on the streets, the shop windows displays are full of color, balloons and garlands and plastic hammers are taken out of the boxes again to be used.

And it was thinking about the colors of our giant S. John's hammer, that I took from the storage these days, and also a beautiful paper that I recently bought for a small project, that I prepared a few things for S. John.

Já andava há imenso tempo para experimentar um tutorial que vi de um cupcake topper com esta bolinha, tipo pom-pom. Finalmente arranjei desculpa para o fazer!

Apesar de ser fácil de fazer, a parte final, de abrir o pom-pom, é bem mais complicada do que imaginava. Mesmo assim, acho que ficou muito giro! Não acham?

Agora imaginem um tabuleiro cheio destes pom-poms e outro cheio destas flores de papel delicadas. Não ia ficar o máximo???

I've been wanting to try out a tutorial that I saw for a cupcake topper which is a small pom-pom made of tissue paper. Finally got an excuse to do so!
Although it is easy to do, opening the pom-pom is far more complicated than I thought. Still, I think that looks really cute! Don't you think so too?

Now imagine a tray full of these pom-poms and another filled with these delicate paper flowers. Wouldn't it look great??

Também não podia faltar a grinalda (ultimamente ando "vidrada" em grinaldas e estou sempre a imaginar formas diferentes de as fazer) em formato de bandeirnihas de S. João.

Aqui, utilizei dois mini queques de laranja que comprei para a minha filhota, mas num bolo pode ficar igualmente bem!

I could not end my project without a garland (lately I've  been fond of wreaths and I'm always imagining different ways of doing them) with the format of little S. John's flags.
Here, I used two mini orange muffins that I bought for my daughter, but in a cake can be equally well!
